Boost Your Chance to Get Hired by Sending Letter of Interest

A letter of interest is a letter sent based on the applicant's desire to work in a company. Usually, this letter is sent without a job vacancy announcement by the company. Sending this kind of letter to a company is entirely the initiative of the job applicant.

The purpose of sending a letter of interest is none other than to offer labor even when the company is not hiring. Of course, the possibility of your application being read by the recruiter is lower than when they are recruiting.

However, this unexpected application usually also attracts the recruiter. You better follow the tips below before sending your letter of interest.

  1. Do deep research on the company

Just like writing a cover letter, company research comes before penning a letter of interest. Job seekers must make a list of companies they are familiar with, whether their vision, mission, products, services, and career prospects.

In other words, job seekers have to understand well what kind of company they desire and what they are applying for. Thus, when they offer their labor with various skills they have, they will be the best candidates to join the company.

  1. It is better to know someone in the company

Applying for a job using a letter of interest will be better if job seekers have a relation with people within the company. This relation is not considered nepotism, but if you have a good relationship with employees at a company, it may help in the hiring process.

If you have a good relationship with people in a company you will apply to, they will act as your references. Besides, your chance of being accepted will be higher if some have known your positive reputation of the company employees.

  1. Pay attention to the contents of the letter of interest

Writing a letter of interest should begin with an opening. You can start the greeting by stating the name of the HR if you get the information or just write the general position of the HR.

Then, state your purpose of writing the letter, why you are interested in working at the company and explain what position you are interested in. Also, mention your best skills and achievements. In the end, write that you hope to receive a response from HR.

  1. Use the correct format

Currently, letters of interest are commonly sent through email. Every job seeker has to make sure the format of the letter they are about to send is correct. In addition, please check if the title and body of the email are filled in before sending it to HR.
